About Royal College Prep
Why we built this, and the standards every question has to meet before it goes live.
Our starting point
Royal College written exams decide careers. A candidate who fails through unfamiliarity with question style or gaps in applied knowledge, rather than genuine clinical weakness, is a failure of preparation, not of ability. We built this platform to close that gap: question banks realistic enough in format and rigorous enough in content that working through them is genuine exam preparation, not just trivia practice — whichever Royal College exam you're sitting.
What "evidence-based" means here
Every explanation on this platform is written to be defensible against a named source: NICE guidance, national specialist-society guidelines, the relevant Royal College curriculum, or an equivalent recognised guideline body — the BNF for Children and the RCPCH curriculum for paediatrics, the corresponding standards for each other specialty we cover. Where guidance has changed or is contested, we say so rather than picking a side arbitrarily. Content is reviewed and refreshed against the current syllabus each year.
What we will never do
We do not reproduce or paraphrase real Royal College exam questions — everything here is written from first principles against the public curriculum, not sourced from candidates' recollections of real papers. We do not publish fabricated reviews or stock photography presented as real students or staff. If we quote a result, cite a statistic, or feature a testimonial, it is real and attributable.
Where we are today
Royal College Prep now covers all seven major UK Royal College written exams: MRCPCH (FOP, TAS & AKP), MRCP(UK) Part 1 & 2, MRCEM Primary & SBA, MRCPsych Paper A & B, MRCGP's Applied Knowledge Test, MRCOG Part 1 & 2, and MRCS Part A. Every exam includes SBA, Extended Matching Questions, and data-interpretation items, plus full timed mock exams, and every question bank continues to grow week by week. What's next
